The Bayeux Protocol
Bayeux is a protocol in draft stage developed by the Dojo Foundation. It is written in the style of an IETF RFC but has not been accepted. It was an attempt to encourage standards and interoperability between implementors of asynchronous messages over HTTP. Implementations of bayeux are still in the early stages.
Supported in StreamHub: YES.
Bayeux essentially tries to standardize and define what is known as Comet. StreamHub provides all the transport mechanisms detailed in the Bayeux specification. However, the Bayeux specification provides no details on connection-loss, reconnection or secure transports required for a complete implementation of streaming over HTTP. StreamHub extends the Bayeux protocol in this respect by providing the extra functionality in order to allow reconnection, heartbeats, and secure HTTPS connections. StreamHub also considers unguarded Bayeux Client-to-Client event delivery a security risk - so all Client-to-Client messages must be explicitly forwarded via the server in StreamHub to eliminate the risk.
